While 'Brat Summer' may be over, Charli XCX is here to assure that this extends into Brat Autumn, followed by Brat Winter – and so far, she’s succeeding. Just last week, the pop visionary released Brat and It’s Completely Different but Also Still Brat – a remix album that reimagined the tracks from her sixth studio LP with a roster of A-list guests, including Ariana Grande, Kesha, and more. Now, Brat-mania has made its way into the realm of luxury style, thanks to Victoria Beckham.

The designer was spotted heading to an event in New York City this week, where she wore one of her own designs, in a vibrant electric green. One glance at the dress and you can't help but think of Charli’s culture-shifting album cover – only Beckham is offering her own elevated take on the attention-grabbing shade.

This dress seems to be a slightly-modified version of one of Beckham’s most-popular designs. It featured a plunging neckline and rounded shoulders that transformed into batwing sleeves with cinched hems. While the bodice was looser, the mermaid skirt hugged tightly to Beckham’s hips, flaring out at the bottom with slight ruffles.

To complete the look, Beckham assembled a a watermelon colour scheme by adding vermillion heels down low and, for jewellery, the designer wore a pair of golden anklets, which matched her dainty necklace. Finally, she added a pair of oversized sunglasses to complete her high-fashion Brat ensemble.

When defining “Brat” earlier this summer, Charli XCX clarified that she uses the word as a term of endearment, saying, “You’re just like that girl who is a little messy and likes to party and maybe says some dumb things sometimes. Who feels herself but maybe also has a breakdown. But kind of like, parties through it, is very honest, very blunt. A little bit volatile.” Meanwhile, the senior fashion editor at Harper’s Bazaar US described the trend by saying: “To dress like a brat is to not care what people think, to embrace chaos and wear clothing meant for living — as long as that life involves dancing until the sun rises and maybe getting in some unserious trouble along the way.”

It's hard to know if Beckham has ever felt like that, but stealing the show in a dress you designed yourself seems wonderfully Brat to us.
