West Ham sign Jean-Clair Todibo after beating Juventus and Manchester United to £34m deal

Jean-Clair Todibo has completed his move to West Ham.

The east Londoners have snapped up the France international on an initial loan deal, with the option of a £34.2million permanent transfer next summer.

Todibo underwent a medical in the week after agreeing personal terms, once a potential move to Juventus collapsed due to a lack of agreement with Nice. Manchester United had also been linked but were unable sign him due to INEOS having a stake in both clubs.

“I am really excited to be signing for West Ham United,” Todibo said.

“It is a dream come true to play in the Premier League, the best league in the world. This is an amazing opportunity for me, at a Club with huge ambition, who want to really make progress under the new Head Coach.

“It feels like the right time to be coming to West Ham, in the heart of London, with an amazing, passionate fan-base. I’m so excited to pull on the West Ham shirt, and play at the London Stadium in the Premier League.”

Todibo, who will wear the No25 shirt, is West Ham’s seventh signing of the summer as Julen Lopetegui oversees a squad rebuild worth £150m. Niclas Fullkrug, Luis Guilherme, Max Kilman and Crysencio Summerville have arrived alongside free transfers for Wes Foderingham and Guido Rodriguez.

The Hammers have already sold Thilo Kehrer and are open to letting Nayef Aguerd leaving, having sanctioned Kurt Zouma’s exit to Dubai club Shabab Al Ahli.
