West Ham sack Slaven Bilic with David Moyes tipped to take over

West Ham have finally put Slaven Bilic out of his misery by giving the beleaguered boss the boot after weeks of speculation over his future.

The Hammers made the announcement on Monday morning following the 4-1 weekend loss to Liverpool at the London Stadium.

That result proved to be the final nail in the coffin after torrid run of form that has seen the club drop into the Premier League relegation zone.

Bilic was appointed as manager in June 2015 on a three-year contract but the board have lost patience following a run of two wins in 11 games.

David Moyes, Carlo Ancelotti, Manuel Pellegrini, Slavisa Jokanovic and Sam Allardyce are among the contenders for the vacant hotseat.

“West Ham United can confirm that Slaven Bilic has today left his position with the club,” the Hammers said in a statement.

“The club hierarchy “believe a change is now necessary in order for the club to move forward positively and in line with their ambition”, the statement added.

Bilic has had to face questions over his position for weeks and appeared battle weary in the wake of the defeat to Jurgen Klopp’s Reds.

“The pressure mounts game by game,” he said.

“I don’t feel a broken man. On the other hand, the situation for West Ham is not good and the club is above every individual.

“I cannot say anything negative [about the owners]. They have been supportive, very good to me in my two and a half seasons, but the situation is very difficult.”
