All eyes in Manchester will be on Lisbon on Tuesday night. Manchester City take on Sporting Clube de Portugal in the Champions League, but Manchester United fans will also be watching the game closely.

The match will be new head coach Ruben Amorim’s final home game in charge of the Portuguese club before he starts his new role at Old Trafford during the upcoming international break. His final game comes on Sunday as Sporting travel to Braga.

The Champions League clash vs City gives United fans a chance to see Amorim’s team against Premier League opposition. It could also give them some sort of indication of what to expect from the new man in charge.

And there may be one Sporting playing in particular who is watched closer than others. Striker Viktor Gyokeres has caught the eye with his performances and goalscoring since moving from Championship side Coventry City last summer.

So far this season he has scored an impressive 20 goals in 16 appearances in all competitions, including 16 goals in 10 league appearances for the club. It’s no surprise then that he has been linked with a move to the Premier League.

If he continues his goalscoring exploits against City on Tuesday night, then it is bound to only intensify that interest. The fact he has already played in England, albeit in the Championship, is likely to attract Premier League clubs too, with the adaptation likely to be quicker.

Amorim’s move to United has sparked talk that the striker could follow his manager to Old Trafford. However, a move could be difficult, considering the price and the fact that clubs playing in the Champions League have been linked.

However, if he continues to impress, then United will have the pull factor of Amorim, who he has thrived under. They could just attempt to use that to try and beat their opponents should any transfer race emerge.
