Tottenham 2-3 West Ham. Yes, you read that correctly.

In what was one of our best performances this year, we managed to come back from 2-0 down at half-time.

We now progress into the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup. Here are three talking points from the game…

The players are fighting for Slaven Bilic

We all thought that the game was over when Dele Alli scored Tottenham’s second goal in the 37th minute. It looked like Bilic was on his way out of the club after another dreadful performance. But what came after half-time, none of us expected.

We were a completely different side in the second half and it is clear that the players are fighting for Bilic. We saw the players work hard and show passion – a complete contrast to the first half. This ultimately helped us to score two goals in the space of five minutes and then take the lead.

Let’s not forget that Bilic did make 9 changes from the team that started against Brighton and Tottenham did start six first-team players. This was an amazing comeback and the momentum gained from this win will hopefully see us win on Saturday.

Andre Ayew to start in our next game?

Since signing for West Ham United, Ayew has not performed consistently though his second-half performance tonight has surely given Bilic something to think about. Andy Carroll was poor tonight and both Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez have struggled.

Ayew took up good positions in the box and did not stop working hard for the team, ultimately scoring two goals in the space of five minutes and picking up the Man of the Match award. According to Opta, Ayew has ‘been involved in more goals than any other West Ham player’ since his debut. With only four starts in the Premier League this season, will we see Ayew get his chance in the team and solidify his place?

Slaven Bilic is half way there

It was reported earlier in the week that Bilic had two games to save his job and he is half way there following tonight’s win. We have now beaten Tottenham 3 times from our last 5 meetings and Bilic appears to be unfazed by the enormous pressure he is under. He did say that he will never quit and his determination seems to have rubbed off on the players.

We can only hope that we build on tonight’s momentum and make this win a turning point in our season. We face Crystal Palace this Saturday and they did lose 4-1 against Bristol City yesterday night. This week was crucial for the club and we may come out of it with two wins from two games.
