The international break is finally over and with that returns the Premier league and our beloved fantasy football. With many daily fantasy football leagues on offer this weekend, we are here to let you know who you should be bringing into your teams and also, who you should be avoiding! So without further ado, here are the must-haves…
Must-haves
Defence
This weekend Chelsea arguably have the ‘easiest’ fixture of the weekend with a home game against Crystal Palace. They’ll be looking to rectify their defensive record recently of 6 games without a clean sheet, conceding a single goal in each of those games, so therefore it would be worth bringing in Marcos Alonso, Thibaut Courtois or even Cesar Azpilicueta. These guys have the potential to grab a clean sheet, with the wingers potentially getting forward and bringing in some attacking points. Manchester United’s tie at home against West Brom would be considered a favourable fixture, despite Albion’s dispatch of Arsenal last gameweek! With the Baggies away from home this weekend, we expect Man United to win this one and with the potential of a clean sheet and attacking returns, Antonio Valencia could be a brilliant option this weekend.
Midfield
In the middle of the park there are few better options this gameweek than Eden Hazard, who as we have already mentioned faces Crystal Palace, who are due to concede a goal after a rare hat-trick of clean sheets! With 3 goals and 2 assists in the last 4 gameweeks, Andre Ayew is flying under the fantasy football radar at the moment and with a game against Hull this week, he will certainly be looking to increase his goal tally on Saturday. Our final two must have midfielders this week are Dusan Tadic and Christian Eriksen, who play Bournemouth and Burnley respectively this weekend. Tadic has been in pretty good form lately with a goal and 3 assists in as many games, whilst Eriksen has managed a goal and 2 assists in the same amount of fixtures.

Up top, there are a few viable selections this week. Firstly we have Manolo Gabbiadini who, despite having a goal scoring rate that seems to be slowing down, does have a favourable fixture against Bournemouth. Jermain Defoe is another great option, coming off the high of scoring on his return for England, and he’ll want to find the back of the net once again as Sunderland visit Watford. Our final must have of the gameweek is Jamie Vardy. Leicester City have really found their form and with a home game against Stoke, they will look to increase their Premier League unbeaten run to 4! Vardy will too be pleased with his performances of late, grabbing 3 goals and 2 assists in his last 3 league games, as well as scoring the second in the 2-0 England win over Lithuania at the weekend.
Must-nots
Defence
Everton lost two of their starting defenders this international break, with Seamus Coleman and Funes Mori both returning with serious injuries. With that in mind, Everton face Liverpool in the Merseyside Derby, a match that they haven’t won at Anfield for 18 years and therefore, it may be wise to avoid Joel Robles, Ashley Williams and co. Without a clean sheet in 7 Premier League fixtures, the Watford back line may be one to avoid. With that said, Jose Holebas also loves a booking and justifies his place in our must nots this week! Mamadou Sakho is yet to concede a goal in a Crystal Palace shirt, keeping 3 clean sheets in his first 3 fixtures, but with a game against the league leaders this weekend, he should be avoided at all costs!
Midfield
Fronting up our midfield must-nots this week is Nacer Chadli, who faces a Manchester United side that have kept 3 clean sheets from their last 5 games. Despite West Brom’s dismantaling of Arsenal, Manchester United will be a different beast altogether, especially at Old Trafford, and it will be interesting to see how Mourinho’s picks and chooses his squad to get the best out of them throughout a busy April ahead. Our next must-not is Ross Barkley. Liverpool have been turning up to the big games this season and we can’t imagine this one being any different. Despite the absence of Adam Lallana, we still expect Liverpool to upkeep their 18 year record as mentioned above and so Everton midfield is definitely one to avoid. Our final avoid pick this week is George Boyd. Burnley welcome Spurs to Turf Moor on Saturday and despite their fairly stable home form, we can’t see Burnley taking any attacking returns here.

Continuing our Burnley theme, we would advise to avoid Andre Gray this week. He has 3 goals in 10 games, which isn’t bad for a side who have just broken the 30 goal mark for the season, but Spurs have kept 5 clean sheets from their last 9 and we expect them to be too much for Burnley this weekend. The big Belgian Christian Benteke is our next must-not forward this week. With just the 1 goal in 13 games, he is struggling for form. He will have been encouraged by his 2 goals against Russia in the International break but Chelsea are pretty formidable at the Bridge so it’s unlikely he’ll be improving his league tally this weekend. Our final must-not for the week is Salomon Rondon, a man struggling for game time and who also somehow manages to have a goal record worse than Benteke over the last 13 games; no goals.
