Ruben Amorim already has unwanted noise at Manchester United thanks to Ineos' poor timing
Ruben Amorim may still be getting used to his new surroundings after becoming the new Manchester United head coach but there's already some unwanted noise following his appointment. Through no fault of his own.
The Portuguese had coach is an exciting appointment having been watched by the likes of Liverpool and Man City in recent months but it was United who swooped in to secure his services. His appointment is the first permanent managerial arrival made by Ineos since they took a minority stake in the club earlier this year.
And yet, pressure is already building on Sir Jim Ratcliffe and co. to make sure this appointment is the right one. Time will tell if that is the case and Amorim should be given time and backing to put his stamp on proceedings.

As we know, football doesn't always work like that and some of Ineos' decisions in their short time at the club, have not helped. The owners - twice - had the opportunity to part ways with Erik ten Hag, before finally making the call last month, just a few months after handing him £183million to spend in the summer - albeit recouping around £90million.
It's always difficult for a manger to come in in the middle of competitive action and try and put his stamp on things. Amorim knows he has to win games to ease any pressure that comes with managing the biggest club in world football, but he made a positive first impression on supporters during his first interview on club channels.
The 39-year-old has his own team now in place at Old Trafford, but the decision to part company with Ruud Van Nistelrooy also caused somewhat of a stir in recent weeks. Again, it's completely understandable from Amorim's point of view to want to work with staff who he knows.
Van Nistelrooy did an impressive job during his time as interim head coach, with three wins and one draw under his belt. One day, he may well be manager of United on a permanent basis.
There was plenty of clamour from the fanbase to see the legendary striker remain at Old Trafford as part of the coaching staff and should Amorim get off to a tough start, it'll only raise further questions about the Van Nistelrooy decision. Not everyone will circle back to that decision, but some will, had the decision to part ways with Ten Hag been made this summer, it would have avoided this situation entirely.
A number of the Dutchman's former team-mates have already made their feelings clear about his departure. “Ruud wanted to stay as assistant,” Andre Ooijer, a coach under Van Nistelrooy at PSV Eindhoven, told the Mirror. “He would have said something if he wasn’t interested in working with Amorim.
“Ruud has had the chance to be manager or head coach at other clubs. But he deliberately did not take those jobs because he wanted to work at the club he loves most. Don’t forget Ruud did really well at United, a draw against Chelsea and victories in the other three matches.
“You could tell the fans liked him so much. You only had to watch how they reacted to him after his last match. He did so well under difficult circumstances. He has stayed unbeaten as a manager. If Amorim does not get the right results in the first few games, the crowd could start calling again for Ruud.”
It's fair to say, Van Nistelrooy is waiting in the wings regardless of whether or not he's at Manchester United, or in charge elsewhere. Ineos will be hoping Amorim gets off to a good start and gets supporters on side after all, it's the owners who'll come under pressure should things turn sour.
