'I'm surprised his wife wasn't involved': Roy Keane tears into former Man Utd boss Sir Alex Ferguson

Roy Keane has slammed former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, accusing him of nepotism.

Keane left United in 2005 in acrimonious circumstances and the pair haven't been in contact since.

The former midfielder's departure came by mutual consent after an extended spell on the sidelines with injury.

The 48-year-old then joined Celtic before hanging up his boots six months later.

Keane has blamed Fergie for 'deserting' him and now he has slammed the legendary Scot for appointing family members to positions at United.

And he has conceded he was surprised Fergie didn't give his wife, Cathy, a job.

Keane told Off the Ball: "Ferguson came out afterwards and said he always did what was best by Manchester United. Nonsense.

"His son Darren played for the club and won a league medal, very lucky.

"His brother was the chief scout for Manchester United for a long time.

"I'm surprised his wife wasn't involved in the staff somewhere.

"Darren was [the manager] at Preston North End and lost his job.

"He had a couple of young players on loan from Manchester United. Guess what happens the next day?

"They're pulled out of Preston. Is that doing the best for Manchester United? Do me a favour."
