Premier League table 2024-25: Latest standings, fixtures and results as Liverpool stay top

Liverpool maintained top spot going into the October international break.

Crystal Palace were their hosts in the lunchtime kick-off at Selhurst Park and they remain winless, after Diogo Jota’s early strike proved enough for another Liverpool victory for Arne Slot.

Manchester City and Arsenal then made sure that four-point Reds lead was quickly cut back down to just one, with respective home comeback wins over Fulham and Southampton.

A busy day in London saw Brentford outlast Wolves in an eight-goal thriller and a Jarrod Bowen-inspired West Ham thrash winless Ipswich in a much-needed victory for manager Julen Lopetegui. The evening game saw Newcastle draw 0-0 with Everton after Anthony Gordon saw a first-half penalty saved against his former club at Goodison Park.

Manchester United earned a goalless draw with Aston Villa, though it remains to be seen how much that eases the pressure on Erik ten Hag.

At the same time, Chelsea were held by Nottingham Forest in an eventful clash at Stamford Bridge, before Tottenham threw away a two-goal lead to fall to a dramatic defeat to Brighton.
