Welsh youngster Gabriele Biancheri is continuing to make waves at Manchester United.

The 18-year-old has made a superb start to life at Old Trafford, having joined from Cardiff City last year, and has been in red-hot form at academy level.

Having already netted 11 goals for the under-18s and one for the under-21s this season, the forward bagged a brace for the under-19s in their 5-2 win over Lithuanian side Zalrgis in the UEFA Youth League last night.

It's a run of form that has predictably earned the teenager plenty of admirers, with some supporters labelling him 'unstoppable'. Many will subsequently feel he deserves recognition from first-team coach Erik ten Hag.

Taking to social media, Nathan Salt, the Daily Mail's Manchester United correspondent posted: "Wales youth international Gabriele Biancheri has already hit 14 goals for #MUAcademy so far this season (2 tonight vs Zalgiris) and it's not even the end of October. No wonder staff at Carrington are waxing lyrical about him."

Whether we'll see him part of a senior matchday squad any time soon remains to be seen, with Ethan Wheatley seemingly ahead of him in the pecking order at Old Trafford.

It could well leave him in a state of limbo, with his age and the arrival of Chido Obi-Martin meaning his spot in the under-18s could soon be gone too.

But his goal record at academy level clearly speaks for itself, and it's surely only a matter of time before he earns some level of recognition, even if that's just the chance to step up and train with the first team.

Otherwise, one wonders if it might be time for the youngster to prepare himself for a loan spell away, where he could perhaps continue his development.

Nevertheless, there appears to be plenty of reason for excitement, with Wales boss Craig Bellamy another one to surely be keeping a close eye on the Wales under-19 international's progress.
