Liverpool's Andy Robertson sends Man United coach 'legend' message after dramatic U-turn
Andy Robertson has lauded Darren Fletcher after equalling the Manchester United coach's total caps for Scotland. The Liverpool defender rescued his country from relegation to the Nations League B after netting a stoppage-time winner against Poland on Monday night.
The Tartan Army were just seconds away from dropping out of the top-tier - before Robertson stepped up to the plate. The 30-year-old left-back scored a brilliant header in the dying embers of the clash, booking Scotland a play-off showdown next year.
Speaking to the BBC Sport after that match, Robertson said the Tartan Army 'deserved' to walk away with three points. He said: "To do it so late on and it means something, now we get the play-off in March, it's very important and I think it was what the performance deserved.

"I don't think anyone can argue that. I thought we dominated, I thought we played well.
"We got done by an unbelievable goal, from their perspective, but I think our performance deserved the win and I'm just happy to step up at the last minute to make sure that the lads got what we deserved."
After winning his 80th cap for the Tartan Army, Robertson later marked the milestone with a celebratory post on social media platform Instagram - which racked up almost 100,000 likes in just six hours. Paying tribute to Fletcher, the Liverpool ace wrote: "First cap to 80th cap.
"Same stadium, same feeling! Proud to join the legend Darren Fletcher as third-most capped. The win was the cherry on top of the cake, see you all in March [blue heart emoji and Scotland flag emoji]."
With Ruben Amorim bringing five members of staff with him from Sporting CP, Fletcher faced an uncertain future in the dugout after Ruud van Nistelrooy was moved on. The United hero was previously their technical director, as well, before getting stuck in on the training pitches at Carrington - to establish a pathway from the club's academy to the the first-team.
