Liverpool defender Kostas Tsimikas is playing it cool when it comes to title talk, despite the Reds' impressive start to the season. With 11 wins from 12 across all competitions and sitting at the top of the Premier League, they're looking like strong contenders.

Yet, ahead of the huge clash with Arsenal, Tsimikas isn't ready to make any bold claims about winning the league. He emphasized: "I think we are too early to say that. We will go to Arsenal to play our football, to win the game, that's our target and we just watch every game.

"Game by game we have to win to take the three points and to play good football. That's important for the team right now. It's too early to speak about [title challenges]. We set our goals from the start of the season, we want to go for everything."

Under new management with Arne Slot, Liverpool is still riding high on the motivation from last season's near-miss at a quadruple under Jurgen Klopp. It scooped up the Carabao Cup but saw its Premier League ambitions slip and faced an unexpected exit from the Europa League at the hands of Atalanta.

Liverpool's Greek defender Tsimikas has highlighted the FA Cup loss to Manchester United as the point where their campaign went off the rails last season. The sequence that followed saw the Reds' title aspirations dashed after a league draw with United and losses to Crystal Palace and Everton. Reflecting on the downturn, Tsimikas observed: "Last season at the end, we destroyed everything.

"After one bad result against Man United again, I think the team in the next fixtures we were not the team we were before. I think as I say we want to take it game by game. Every game is a final. We wanted to play our game, to do what the manager wants and win games."

Tsimikas delivered a standout performance in the 1-0 triumph over RB Leipzig, bolstering Liverpool's Champions League ambitions with three wins from three matches. However, he's expected to give way to Andy Robertson for the upcoming game against Arsenal.

The battle for the left-back spot continues to be robust, with manager Slot affording opportunities for rotation. Tsimikas adds, speaking of his competition with Robertson: "We have a very, very good relationship. We are almost every day together, we laugh together but we play the same position.

"Both of us want to play, it's very healthy competition as it had to be from the start. I think when he plays, he gives everything, and when he plays, I want all the best for him, and when I play, he wants all the best for me. That's a healthy competition. We are very, very close. Both of us want to play, and both of us, when we have the chance, give absolutely everything."

Liverpool.com says: Tsimikas was very good again as Liverpool won its 11th match. Robertson can't play three games in a week at the same intensity as used to so the Greek will be very useful for Slot this season.
