Jose Mourinho produces remarkable U-turn after next job hint amid Man United vacancy
Jose Mourinho has produced a remarkable U-Turn after claiming he would be open to moving back to the Premier League with a team "at the bottom" who aren't competing in Europe.
The Fenerbahce boss said after his side's 1-1 draw with Manchester United that he was "ready" to return to England in two years and join a side fighting to avoid relegation. Mourinho, who was sent off against United, cut a frustrated figure in his post-match press conference and admitted he has had enough of UEFA competitions.
Mourinho told reporters: "The best thing I have to do is when I leave Fener is that I go to a club that doesn’t play in UEFA competition. So a club at the bottom in England who needs a coach in two years, I’m ready to go. I don’t want to speak anymore about it. I want to speak about the game."

However, Mourinho has now retracted those comments and revealed he now doesn't see himself working for a team at the bottom of the Premier League. "It was a joke with how I was feeling," Mourinho told Sky Sports. "I'm never going to the Premier League to manage a team that is in the relegation [battle]. I will never go."
His comments come a day after the sacking of Erik ten Hag. United are now lining up a replacement for the Dutchman, with Ruben Amorim having agreed to over permanently with Ruud van Nistelrooy currently in charge on an interim basis.
Mourinho, who left Roma back in January after two-and-a-half years in the position, joined Fenerbahce in the summer and he has since done a terrific job with the Istanbul side. The ex-Tottenham, United and Chelsea boss has won nine of his first 16 matches at the helm, drawing five times and losing twice.
Fenerbahce beat Bodrum 2-0 on Sunday to cement their place in third in the Super Lig table, with Mourinho's men now unbeaten in six matches across all competitions. The Yellow Canaries sit 14th in the Europa League table on five points from their first three games and face AZ Alkmaar next up on November 7.
Speaking after the win over Bodrum, Mourinho said: "We achieved a deserved victory. It could have been four, five, or six. I'm happy that we earned points, but we should have scored more goals. I was disappointed in that sense.
"The goals we scored did not come from the positions we created. Osayi's (Bright Osayi-Samuel) simple pass could have led to a goal with a simple touch from Ismail Yuksek, but he tried to score a magical goal. We could have easily killed the game."
