How to Play Yahoo UK Daily Fantasy
What is Yahoo Sport Daily Fantasy?
The new way for fantasy football fans to have fun, compete, and win real cash. Daily contests are available for all Premier League and Champions League matches with additional leagues coming soon.
Unlike season-long fantasy leagues, where you have to commit to a long campaign, which can be dominated by one or two dedicated players, Yahoo Daily Fantasy is just that – daily. Dip in and out when you want. If you have an off day it has no impact on your next week, but if you make the right picks you get instant gratification with real cash.
The basic concept should be familiar to fantasy fans, but in a nutshell:
Enter a contest. Learn the ropes with a free contest, or risk from £0.25 to £50 in each.
Select your team. Choose 11 players from a £200 budget then tinker until each kick off.
Sit back and enjoy. Follow each kick of the ball in real-time right up to the final whistle.
Overview of contests
There are several different ways to play, whether you’re a beginner or an expert. We offer a wide range of contests to ensure you always find the right fit – the more you’re willing to stake, the more you stand to win. Look out for ‘rookie only’ contests that let you get comfortable with how it all works.
Selecting your team
On joining a contest, choose 11 players. Pick a keeper, three defenders, four midfielders, two strikers, and one utility position (F, M, or D) which allows you to determine your formation. Favour a 3-4-3 formation? Select a forward. Prefer 3-5-2? Select a midfielder.
Remember to stay within the £200 limit so budget wisely. Use our handy Fantasy Points Per Game (FPPG) to see how players score on average, or click on the player for a full history of matches.
Deadlines and editing your selections
Submit your team any time before the first match. Changes can be made right up until kick-off. As official starting lineups are confirmed we alert you if one of your selected players is not starting. Never worry about the dreaded ‘late fitness test’ again.
For match days where there are late kick offs, you can even swap out any player before his match begins. Of course, you cannot replace him with a player who has already been in action.
Point scoring explained
Yahoo Daily Fantasy has finely tuned the scoring system to ensure a proper balance between players and positions. Players are given points for actions on the pitch from passes to tackles to goals. Goalkeepers receive points for every save as well as clean sheets and wins. Defenders also receive points for clean sheets.
