Greece 0-3 England: Curtis Jones scores superb goal on debut as Three Lions go top of Nations League group

England moved to the top of their Nations League group with an impressive 3-0 win over Greece in Athens.

A month on from a miserable performance and defeat at Wembley, Lee Carsley’s side were depleted in their bid for revenge, with nine players withdrawing from the England squad this week.

Harry Kane, meanwhile, started on the bench in a bold decision from Carsley, but it paid off for him inside the opening ten minutes as Ollie Watkins turned home from Noni Madueke’s cut-back.

That goal remained the difference at half-time and indeed well into the second-half, with Jude Bellingham’s header after the break bouncing back off the post.

The Real Madrid star played a leading role in England eventually doubling their lead, though, his strike again finding the woodwork but this time it hit goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos and trickled back into the net.

Curtis Jones then capped his debut in style to put the match to bed, producing a sensational flicked finish to find the corner and ensure the Three Lions head into Sunday’s clash at home to the Republic of Ireland with their fate in their own hands.
