Some fans went too far with their celebrations after England’s World Cup quarter-final victory over Sweden as an ambulance was trashed in central London.

The Three Lions are through to the last four for the first time in 28 years after goals from Harry Maguire and Dele Alli saw off the threat of the Swedes.

It sparked wild scenes in the capital and across the country as supporters spilled out of the pubs and into the streets to revel in the historic triumph.

However, the rowdy celebrations overstepped the mark when an ambulance, parked near London’s Borough market, was damaged during the victory party.

The officer in charge of the vehicle was nearby attending an emergency call and had temporarily left the ambulance unattended.

Members of the crowd took turns in mounting the bonnet and jumping on the roof to cause enough damage to force the London Ambulance service to withdraw it from duty.

One woman took centre stage as she played to the crowd by lifting up her top to reveal her black bra as hundreds of people gathered around.

A man then seemingly dressed as Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate, complete with trademark waistcoat, then took his turn to dance on top of the ambulance.

The London Ambulance service said last night: “We’re delighted with the result, but this has put a big dampener on the celebrations for us.

“while our officer attended a call nearby, this car was damaged in Borough High Street during the celebrations after the game – it’s now off the road to be repaired.”

Pictures taken during the wild celebrations showed significant damage to the vehicle’s windscreen as party-goers took to the streets in their droves.

The Joint Response added: “Obviously we are chuffed with the result this afternoon but there is absolutely NO excuse to vandalise emergency service vehicles by jumping on them.

“This vehicle is now off the road and unable to respond to patients. We are better than this, England.”

Crazy celebrations were not confined to London and neither was the vandalism. A police van was targeted in Manchester as fans showed disregard for authority.
