Erik ten Hag 'lined up' for next job after Manchester United sacking as £15m claim made
Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has been linked with a sensational return to management, weeks after being relieved of his duties at Old Trafford.
The Dutchman has been touted as a potential option for Serie A side AS Roma as they continue their search for a new manager. Ivan Juric was sacked on Sunday after the Italian side were beaten 3-2 at home by Bologna.
Juric's dismissal sees Roma now searching for their third manager of the campaign after club icon Daniele De Rossi was unceremoniously sacked in September. Reports in Italy have courted a number of potential successors, including former United target Graham Potter as well as Frank Lampard, among others.

But just weeks after being dismissed from the Old Trafford post, Ten Hag, represented by SEG, has been suggested as an option in the Italian capital. Local outlet Il Messaggro reported: "The casting is going ahead: to the CAA Stellar agency, contacted in recent days, several agents and intermediaries have been added in the city who are proposing their clients in these hours.
"In addition to the name of [Graham] Potter, also the profile of [Erik] Ten Hag, fresh from his dismissal from Manchester United, would have ended up.
"A difficult path even if the Red Devils' severance package of 19 million (£15m) could come to the rescue."
In light of the decision from the Old Trafford chiefs to dismiss Ten Hag after their defeat to West Ham, the Dutchman has returned to his homeland and was pictured in the stands for the 2-2 draw between former clubs FC Twente and Ajax.
United appointed Ruben Amorim as his successor in a newly-formed head coach role, with the former Sporting CP tactician arriving in the North West on Monday. Following the decision, Ten Hag released a statement saying: "Thank you for always being there for the club.
"Whether it was at a game far away or a tough match at Old Trafford, your support has been unshakeable. The atmosphere at Old Trafford has always been electrifying, thanks to you.
"I also want to thank the staff in every department of the club for their unwavering support in good times and bad.
"We won two trophies - achievements that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Of course my dream was to bring more trophies to the cabinet.
"Unfortunately, that dream has come to an end. I wish all Manchester United fans nothing but success, trophies and glory.
"Your support, and the warmth I received from everyone at the club, helped me feel at home. Thank you for this chapter in my life."
