Smart tech turns sinister in UK trailer for the 'Child's Play' reboot
A new UK trailer for the Child’s Play reboot promises that horror cinema’s most violent doll will be using smart technology to play out his rampage.
The film, directed by Norwegian filmmaker Lars Klevberg, will see Star Wars leading man Mark Hamill provide the voice for the murderous Chucky doll.
Aubrey Plaza and Brian Tyree Henry also appear, alongside Gabriel Bateman as the unwitting child who owns the toy.

Klevberg has said the doll will be a robot who spins out of control, rather than a character possessed by a serial killer, as was the case in the 1988 original.
The trailer shows that the ‘Buddi’ doll is part of a range of products released by tech company Kaslan.
Users are supposed to be able to control their smart home devices through Buddi and his accompanying app, but the trailer makes it clear that it’s actually Buddi himself who takes control.
The trailer showcases Buddi using drones and self-driving cars to do his bidding, while a set report over at Rotten Tomatoes revealed the character controls an army of similar dolls, as well as a stuffed bear destined to ruin teddies forever.
It’s enough to make anyone question whether their fancy new smart home devices are worth the risk of them being taken over by an evil doll.
