New on Prime Video UK in June 2022: The best movies and TV shows arriving next month

The Platinum Jubilee leads to a royal focus on Prime Video UK this month, with feature documentary Elizabeth: A Portrait in Parts telling the story of the Queen's lengthy reign while Starzplay drama Becoming Elizabeth goes back in time several hundred years to depict the previous monarch to use the name Elizabeth.

However, the streamer's main event in June is undoubtedly the return of the violent, anarchic superhero show The Boys for its third season. Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr and Erin Moriarty are back, along with the rest of the ensemble cast.

It's worth noting too that James Bond fans will want to act fast, as most of the recently-added back catalogue of 007 films will be leaving the service on 14 June. No Time To Die will remain available to stream.

Elizabeth: A Portrait in Parts (1 June)

Before he passed away last year, acclaimed British director Roger Michell put together this documentary about the life and reign of Queen Elizabeth II. The assembly of archive clips is organised into chapters, recounting the highs and lows of almost a century of royal history, while also offering glimpses of Her Majesty during more natural, unguarded moments.

My Fake Boyfriend (10 June)

Hoping to keep an ex-boyfriend out of the picture for the benefit of his own sanity, Andrew (Keiynan Lonsdale) creates the identity of a fake partner, named Cristiano, through social media with the help of his friend (Dylan Sprouse). Inevitably, given this is happening within a romcom world, this ruse coincides with Andrew meeting a potential love of his life. Sprouse's character, though, isn't so keen to ditch "Cristiano", who has managed to gain more than a million followers despite being entirely fictional.

New TV coming to Prime Video UK in June

The Boys S3 (weekly from 3 June)

The dark comic book world of showrunner Eric Kripke is back as The Boys delivers another sweary, bloody season of superhero TV. We rejoin the characters after a year of relative calm, but with many of them itching for a bit of anarchy.

A new anti-superhero weapon shows up, which throws everything back into bedlam and bloodshed, while also leading the characters to trace the legend of Soldier Boy — the first ever superhero. Supernatural actor Jensen Ackles is joining the cast in that role.

Backstage with Katherine Ryan S1 (9 June)

Katherine Ryan delves deep into the inner workings of the stand-up comedy world with this access all areas series, looking behind the curtain at some of the country's finest comics. The concept of stand-up comedy meeting reality TV is a fascinating one.

Fairfax S2 (10 June)

Just over six months after its first season debuted, this adult animated series is back. The original cast members, including Skyler Gisondo and Kiersey Clemons, return in their roles as middle school kids trying to fit in and make their mark on Fairfax Avenue in Los Angeles.

Hacks S2 (10 June)

The first season of Hacks followed a veteran comic (Jean Smart) as she formed a contentious relationship with a hungry young writer (Hannah Einbinder) brought in to revitalise her career. Having established that dynamic, season two takes those characters on the road as they try out the material they've built together.

Hollywood Houselift with Jeff Lewis S1 (10 June via Freevee)

In this series, interior design expert and radio host Jeff Lewis serves as the high-flying home renovator of choice for the stars. He takes on ambitious and luxurious designs for clients with very deep pockets.

Becoming Elizabeth S1 (12 June via Starzplay)

Alicia von Rittberg plays the young woman who would become Queen Elizabeth I in this drama series following the princess as she deals with the politics and power struggles of the Tudor court. There are a number of interesting names in the cast, including Game of Thrones star Bella Ramsey and British comedy stalwart Alex Macqueen.

The Lake S1 (17 June)

In the wake of a disastrous break-up, Justin (Jordan Gavaris) hopes to reconnect with the daughter (Madison Shamoun) he gave up for adoption years earlier at a beautiful lakeside cottage where he formed his own childhood memories. There's a spanner in his plans though, because his dad left the house to Maisy-May (Julia Stiles) — Justin's cartoonishly perfect step-sister.

The Summer I Turned Pretty S1 (17 June)

Jenny Han's books have already been hugely successful on screen, with her To All the Boys... series sparking three beloved Netflix romcoms. Her other most famous work is the Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy, which Han has now begun to adapt with this series for Prime Video. It's a coming-of-age romance tale, focusing on numerous family relationships as well as a love triangle involving a young girl and the two brothers for whom she nurses an attraction.

At Home With the Gils S1 (24 June)

Fans of Brazilian music will enjoy this reality series, which follows multiple generations of the Gil family as they prepare for an unprecedented concert bringing together the various iterations of the Gils. As well as focusing on the family, it delves into issues of racism and explores the changing face of culture in Brazil.

The One That Got Away S1 (24 June)

The latest high-concept dating show to hit TV screens is this offering, in which contestants are visited through a time-travelling portal by people from their past, presenting them with a rare second chance. The series is fronted by Aussie singer-songwriter Betty Who.
