Legendary filmmaker John Carpenter wants to return to directing
John Carpenter is one of the most influential movie directors of the last 50 years.
Not only are the likes of Assault On Precinct 13, Escape From New York, The Thing, and in particular Halloween adored by filmmakers, but they’ve each inspired various sequels or reboots, too.

Which makes it all the more disappointing that Carpenter hasn’t actually directed a movie for over 10 years now. However, during a recent interview with The Daily Beast, Carpenter admitted that he hopes to step behind the camera again soon.

After being asked if movie fans will ever get to see him direct again, Carpenter responded with, "You might! I’m working on a couple of things. But I’m not doing anything for a while, until the world comes back and rights itself. It’s insane now. It’s nuts! I’m not going to go out there and get sick."
But while Carpenter has only directed two films since the turn of the millennium, as 2010’s The Ward was preceded by 2001’s Ghosts Of Mars, he has been much more prolific when it comes to music.
In fact, Lost Themes III: Alive After Death will be released on February 5, and it marks his fourth album in just six years. Carpenter fans will be very much aware of the director’s musical talents as he has provided the soundtrack to all of his movies since 1979’s Halloween.

Of course, while we’re still not sure when Carpenter will make his next movie, we do at least know that Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends, the follow-ups to his beloved horror original, will be released on October 15, 2021, and October 14, 2022, respectively.
