Jamie Lee Curtis says she is an "emotional human being" and that this made it very tough for her to say goodbye to the Halloween franchise with new sequel Halloween Ends.

Curtis was 19 years old when she made her feature debut as archetypal "final girl" Laurie Strode in John Carpenter's 1978 slasher Halloween — and now she's playing the character for a seventh time in her 60s.

"It's hard to say goodbye to anything. I am an emotional human being. I've been doing this for a long time. I've been doing it with this group of people for five years," the star told.

Halloween Ends concludes David Gordon Green's trilogy of Halloween films and explores the impact of Michael Myers' legacy on Haddonfield, with the man himself having been in hiding for four years since the events of 2018's Halloween and 2021's Halloween Kills.

For Curtis, the film was an opportunity to close the book on a character who has been part of her life for more than four decades — and bid farewell to the fans too.

In a replica of Laurie Strode's house built in London for the Halloween Ends Experience at Piccadilly Circus, Curtis said it was an emotional day to be doing interviews about the character for the final time.

She said: "I'm saying goodbye to you. I'm saying that I will not do this again with you. I'll do something else with you maybe.

"It's literally gonna make me cry that I'm in London, at 64 years old, talking about films and a film that I starred in when I was 19, in a fake house that you guys have built. Saying goodbye to that is going to be really hard."

Curtis said that, although it's a shame to be saying goodbye to Laurie, there had to come a day when she would face off with Michael for the final time.

"All the fans, you're welcome. And thank you. It has just been an incredible ride and I'm really sad that it's gonna be over," said the star.

She added: "And yet I'm not, because nobody wants to see Laurie running down the hall with a walker and him with a cane. It's just not gonna be the same. So I think we're going out in the right way."

James Jude Courtney returns to play Michael Myers in Halloween Ends, with Kyle Richards, Will Patton and Andi Matichak also reprising their roles from the rest of Green's trilogy.

Halloween Ends is heading to UK cinemas and IMAX on 14 October.
