Hugh Grant has hilarious response to Colin Firth's surprise Bridget Jones 4 role
Hugh Grant has responded to the now-public news that Colin Firth is back for the fourth Bridget Jones film.
We knew that Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy would focus on Bridget raising her kids and trying to find love again after Mark Darcy's passing, just like the novel it was based on.
The trailer released this week reveals that Firth is in the film, but just as a flashback/figment of Bridget's imagination.
Hugh Grant, who is also back for the new film, reacted to the reveal by continuing his long-running series of light-hearted jabs at his good friend's expense.

"Poor Colin. They're still wheeling him out," he said on Late Night with Seth Meyers this week.
"No, it's fine. It's nice to give the old boy some work... Actually, he looks fine. He's had a lot of work done.
"Maybe I shouldn't say that, but it's brilliant work. Whoever did it... And he's great with his makeup. He does his own."

Grant previously described the fourth Bridget Jones film as "very sad" and "extremely funny", and revealed that he actually wrote some of his own scenes.
However, he did explain that he isn't actually in it all that much.
If you want to see Hugh Grant on the big screen, he's currently starring in the horror film Heretic. Meanwhile, Four Weddings and a Funeral was shown on BBC One last night, meaning it's on iPlayer.
Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy will be released in UK cinemas on February 14, 2025. The first three Bridget Jones' films are available to stream now on Netflix. In America, Mad About the Boy will go straight to streaming, on Peacock.
