Death in Paradise actor Ben Miller has shared his daughter's hilarious, if brutal, reaction to seeing Paddington in Peru.

The comedian and actor reprises his role as Colonel Lancaster from the second film, popping up in the first five minutes of the latest movie before the main characters head to Peru.

Appearing on Sunday Brunch yesterday (November 17), Miller shared his praise for the third movie and one family member's response to his role.

"Paddington in Peru, it's brilliant," he said. "I saw it the other weekend at the premiere, took my daughter, who's aged 9, who five minutes into the film and after I had made my appearance said, 'Have we come all this way for that?!'."

"To be fair, I do something quite important in the film because I give Paddington an umbrella," he explains. "So, without me, I don't think any of the story would have happened."

He's referring to an umbrella that his character gives Paddington which ends up getting him out of multiple scrapes throughout the film, including being used in conjunction with a marmalade sandwich to convince a llama to let him ride.

"Paddington in Peru is amazing," Miller added. "The premiere was fantastic, turned all of Leicester Square into the Peruvian jungle, it was wonderful."

Critics, including Digital Spy, stated in reviews that while the third film doesn't quite live up to Paddington 2, it was still very impressive. Paddington in Peru currently has a 93% critic score on movie aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes.

In terms of box office performance, the latest Paddington adventure has had the biggest opening weekend of the three films, and additionally set the record for the best opening weekend of a UK-produced film this year.

A fourth film hasn't been officially announced beyond the studio's intention to put something out in 2027 or 2028, alongside a TV show, but the commercial success of Paddington in Peru is certainly promising.

Paddington in Peru is out in cinemas now.
