Lidl named cheapest UK supermarket
Lidl has been named the UK's cheapest supermarket beating six other major retailers, including Aldi and the traditional "Big Four" supermarkets.
The discount retailer came in as the number one supermarket for bargains in the Grocer’s "Super Grocer 33" index, for the third time in a row.
The Grocer price comparison survey found the average cost of everyday grocery items at Lidl came to £46.58, which was £15.44 cheaper than Morrisons.
The index, which compares the price of 33 everyday grocery items across the UK’s seven major supermarkets, found Lidl to be £27.88 cheaper than the most expensive retailer, Waitrose.
