Zach Thomas to speak at Palm Beach County High School Sports Awards

One of the most popular Dolphins of all time will be the guest speaker at the 2022 Palm Beach County High School Sports Awards.

Former Miami linebacker Zach Thomas, who has been a recent finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, will be part of a question and answer session on Wednesday, June 1 at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts - Dreyfoos Hall.

The event, which starts at 7:30 p.m., will be produced with support from Baptist Health Orthopedic Care.

More than 200 high school athletes from across Palm Beach County will be honored by The Palm Beach Post. The show will also name players of the year for more than 20 sports and include several major awards, including overall Players of the Year, Teams of the Year, Coaches of the Year and a Courage Award.

“These student athletes never cease to amaze me with their hard work and dedication, and I'm proud to be a part of recognizing and honoring their accomplishments," Thomas said.

Thomas, named to the NFL’s all-decade team for the 2000s, played 13 years in the NFL, including 1996-2007 with the Dolphins. He led the AFC in tackles in 2002 and 2006 and was AFC Defensive Rookie of the Year in 1996. He was a unanimous All-American at Texas Tech and is enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame.

The Palm Beach County High School Sports Awards is part of the USA Today High School Sports Awards program, the largest high school sports recognition program in the country.
