Zach LaVine joins MTN DEW roster with launch of 3-Point Contest in NBA 2K22
Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine is joining the MTN DEW roster of NBA and WNBA players, starting with the launch of NBA 2K22 on Friday.
LaVine, who joins Zion Williamson and A’ja Wilson on the MTN DEW roster, will be a big part of the game’s MTN DEW 3-Point Contest after participating in the real-life event during the 2021 NBA All-Star Game. In that event, LaVine scored 22 points in the first round and was eliminated. Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry won the 2021 event.
In NBA 2K22, the 3-Point Contest will include The Dew Zone green balls. The green balls debuted in the real-life event earlier this year. They were positioned in two locations between the normal racks at the top of the arc and the wing. One ball on each rack was the green ball worth three points if made. Normal balls are worth one point apiece during the contest.
Fans can compete against LaVine and other NBA shooters in the new 2K22 3-Point Contest. LaVine will take fans through the 3-Point Contest as the in-game host.
“I like the way how they branded with other people who are really good guys. They let you be yourself,” LaVine told Yahoo Sports of the MTN DEW partnership.
LaVine’s overall 2K rating is 87, which he said he isn’t fazed by.
“I don’t really get after it like that. I used to really, really care about it. But, at the end of the day, they’re gonna do what they’re want to do,” LaVine told Yahoo Sports. “They might underrate some guys. They might overrate some guys. They’re gonna get responses regardless, and that’s good for 2K. I let my game do the talking, and I think I’ve gotten better each and every year I’ve been, not only in the game but in real life. So that’s what I try to worry about, and I enjoy the game.”
The new NBA 2K22 launched Friday. Throughout the month, MTN DEW will release exclusive in-game court designs and MTN DEW x LaVine gear.
