It’s officially OK to hate on the New York Yankees again. With the trade for Miami Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton, the Yankees have gone from young, promising upstart back to World Series front-runner. And no one likes the favorite.

Fans will just have to deal with that for now. As of Dec. 11, 2017, the Yankees are the 2018 World Series favorite, according to Bovada.

In just a little over a month, the Yankees went from 11-1 to 5-1 odds to win the World Series. Turns out, you get a lot better when you add the reigning National League MVP to your lineup. Even better than the current World Series champion Houston Astros or the team they beat, the Los Angeles Dodgers.

None of this should really come as a big surprise. The Yankees took the Astros to Game 7 of the American League Championship Series without Stanton. With him, they are undoubtedly stronger. We can’t blame the oddsmakers for thinking about Stanton and Aaron Judge back-to-back and getting excited.

Speaking of those two, Bovada is offering a few wagers around the 2018 Bash Brothers.

You can bet on whether Stanton will mash over 44.5 home runs next year, whether Judge will wind up with more home runs and whether the two will combine for over 100 total dingers. It’s safe to say Bovada has big expectations for the two.

Oh, and about hating the Yankees again. Well, we could point out that you probably shouldn’t get mad that they were able to take advantage of a Marlins front office that did everything possible to drive down Stanton’s value while alienating their superstar.

Then again, we’re not going to tell Marlins fans how to feel. If they want to be angry about their superstar making the Yankees a baseball powerhouse again, they’ve earned that much.
