With Aaron Rodgers back in the fold, how have the Packers' betting odds shifted?

There’s been a lot of drama and uncertainty surrounding Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers in recent months, but news broke Monday that Rodgers is planning to play one final season in the green and gold.

The 37-year-old Rodgers is entering his 17th season in Green Bay, but has been displeased with the organization, particularly the front office. On the precipice of training camp, however, Rodgers and the franchise reportedly have landed upon a truce that will put Rodgers on the field for the Packers in 2021 and allow him out of his contract at the conclusion of the season.

How have the Packers' odds shifted?

Anytime a three-time MVP quarterback is on the field, it’s going to help your chances of winning. And with the Rodgers situation seemingly resolved (for now), the oddsmakers at BetMGM have adjusted accordingly.

The Packers’ Super Bowl odds have jumped from +1600 to +1200 at BetMGM. Green Bay is now tied with the Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers for the third-best odds in the NFL. The only teams with better odds are last year’s Super Bowl participants, the Kansas City Chiefs (+450) and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+700).

Elsewhere, the Packers moved from +800 to +550 to win the NFC. The Bucs, the defending champions, are the betting favorites at +310, with the Packers tied with the Rams and 49ers at +550. The Packers lost to Tampa Bay in the NFC title game last season.

What about the NFC North? The Packers are the two-time defending division champions and were already the favorites to win it again at -120. With Rodgers back in the fold, the Packers are now -165 with the Minnesota Vikings (+260) and the Chicago Bears (+500) next in line. The Detroit Lions are a distant fourth at +2500.

Individually, Rodgers’ MVP odds have not shifted. They remain at +800 at BetMGM, trailing only Patrick Mahomes (+500) and ahead of other quarterbacks like Josh Allen (+1200), Lamar Jackson (+1400) and Tom Brady (+1600).
