Who wins Tennessee Vols' 50th Super Bowl ring – Trey Smith or Jauan Jennings?
Former Tennessee Vols will own 50 Super Bowl rings after Trey Smith and Jauan Jennings face off in Super Bowl 58.
The Kansas City Chiefs play the San Francisco 49ers on Feb. 11 (6:30 p.m. ET, CBS) in Las Vegas.
Smith is a starting offensive guard for the Chiefs. Jennings is a wide receiver for the 49ers. There have been 40 former Vols combining to win 49 Super Bowl rings, so a 50th is guaranteed.
Fittingly, that UT milestone will be reached by a Tennessee native. Smith is from Jackson, and Jennings is from Murfreesboro. And they were teammates for the Vols from 2017-19.
This will give UT 74 players who have been on a Super Bowl team. Smith will be the 20th former Vol to make multiple appearances.
How Trey Smith, Jauan Jennings got to Super Bowl
Smith is seeking his second consecutive Super Bowl win.
He started for the Chiefs in a 38-35 win over the Philadelphia Eagles in last year’s Super Bowl. And he’s served as a critical part of the offensive line protecting quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Super Bowl 57 MVP.
Smith played at UT from 2017-20, earning All-America honors and the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year award as a senior.
Jennings will make his first Super Bowl appearance.
He had 19 receptions for 265 yards and one TD for the 49ers this season. He also had six catches for 69 yards in playoff wins over the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions.
Jennings played at UT from 2015-19. He was selected as the team MVP and a permanent captain for his senior season.
Don't forget Wanya Morris
Chiefs offensive tackle Wanya Morris also started his college career at UT.
He played for the Vols from 2019-20. Then he transferred to Oklahoma, where he played 2021-22.
Morris was selected by the Chiefs in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He played 14 games with four starts as a rookie. But he hasn't played in the postseason due to a concussion.
