Who will win Super 5 boys basketball Player of the Year? These 15 stars make their cases.

Throughout the regular season, many Oklahoma high school boys basketball stars made their cases for The Oklahoman’s Super 5 Player of the Year consideration.

With the regular season behind us, it’s time to meet 15 early candidates. This isn’t a comprehensive list and playoffs could shake it up, but the following players have made compelling cases:

Trashaun Combs-Pierce, Norman

The Tigers' two-way big man has been the leading force in Norman's 13-game win streak. The 6-foot-8 Independence (Kansas) Community College commit is putting up 17 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.8 blocks and 2.6 steals per game.

Dayton Forsythe, Dale

A senior, Forsythe has been the heartbeat of the Pirates, leading the two-time defending Class 2A champions to 23 wins so far. The OU signee averages 20 points, six rebounds and 3.5 assists per game and is shooting 52% from the field.

Cal Furnish, Crossings Christian

The Class 5A Knights benefit from a high-paced motion offense, but Furnish is undoubtedly a leader. Crossings Christian's star guard has solidified himself as one of the best creators in the state while putting up 16 points, 5.5 assists and two steals per game on high shooting efficiency.

Luke Gray, Oklahoma Christian School

The senior is Oklahoma Christian School's all-time leading scorer, and his presence in the paint is a driving force behind the Class 3A Saints’ success. The 6-foot-8 forward is averaging 22 points and 11.2 rebounds per game while shooting 61% from the field and 40% from beyond the arc.

DJ Howell, Broken Arrow

Howell has stepped up immensely as the Tigers' top option. The 6-foot-5 guard heads into the postseason averaging 14 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game while shooting 34% from 3-point range.

Chris Mason, Tulsa Victory Christian

Mason has been one of the most dominant players in the state for the Class 3A second-ranked Conquerors. The three-star 6-foot-7 forward is averaging 22 points, nine rebounds, two steals and two blocks per game while leading Victory Christian to 18 wins.

Roman Miller, Mustang

Mustang might fly under the radar in a loaded Class 6A field, but Miller has proved to be one of the state's best scorers. The Broncos' 6-foot-4 wing is averaging 21 points and seven rebounds per game as a junior to lead Mustang's efforts in one of the top districts in the state.

Jalen Montonati, Owasso

Montonati is having a monster season for Class 6A Owasso as a sophomore. The state's only five-star prospect stands at 6-foot-7 and is putting up 24 points per game while shooting 54% from the field and 44% from behind the 3-point line.

Jaden Nickens, Douglass

Although Nickens is a recent addition to the Class 4A second-ranked Trojans, his talent on the hardwood has been undeniable. The OU football commit has put up 20 or more points in each of his games for Douglass and looks to win his third consecutive state title after winning two with Millwood.

CJ Nickson, Weatherford

The Eagles' two-sport star has continued his dominance while leading Weatherford to a No. 1 ranking in Class 4A. The four-star junior is averaging 16.4 points, 6.7 rebounds and three assists per game, and the Eagles are 22-1 heading into the postseason. Along with starring in basketball, Nickson is one of the top football recruits in the state.

Kaidon Rayfield, Putnam City West

Rayfield has continued to be one of the state's star two-way prospects despite missing a few games due to injury. The lanky 6-foot-8 junior forward is putting up 15 points, eight rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game.

Davon Scott, Douglass

Scott has led the charge for the defending Class 4A champion Trojans through 17 games. He's averaging 18 points, five rebounds and four assists per game while playing an immense role defensively at the point of attack.

Chianté Tramble, Edmond North

After spending last season at Putnam West, Tramble has become the tone-setter and all-around leader at point guard for the Huskies. The Independence (Kansas) Community College commit is averaging 14.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, and four assists per game while leading the team in 3-pointers made.

Dylan Warlick, Edmond North

The Wyoming signee has picked up right where he left off after being named to the Super 5 first team the last two seasons. Warlick has anchored the Huskies' defense while leading the team in scoring. He is averaging 19 points, 8.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists per contest.

Carlsheon Young, Midwest City

Young has become one of the most prolific scorers in the state during his first year at Midwest City after moving from Newcastle. The 6-foot-4 Oklahoma State commit is averaging 24 points and seven rebounds per game during the Bombers' dominant turnaround atop Class 5A.
