Why South Carolina coach Dawn Staley believes Philadelphia Eagles will win the Super Bowl
COLUMBIA — After No. 1 South Carolina women's basketball earned a huge 88-64 win over No. 2 LSU, coach Dawn Staley is hoping for another from the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII.
Staley, who was born and raised in Philadelphia, has worn Eagles gear to every game since the start of the NFL playoffs and sported a vintage Randall Cunningham jersey in front of the sold-out crowd at Colonial Life Arena on Sunday.
She entered her postgame press conference sporting a massive plastic chain with a dangling Eagles logo over the jersey.
"A fan gave me this as I was walking around the gym," Staley laughed. "We've got some of the best fans up in here."

The Eagles will face the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday evening (6:30 p.m., FOX) in their second Super Bowl appearance in the last five years. In 2018, Philadelphia beat the New England Patriots 41-33 to win the first title in team history.
This year's Super Bowl is also historic, marking the first time both starting quarterbacks are Black. Cunningham has held extra significance for Staley. The Eagles have started Black quarterbacks for more games (377) than any other franchise in the league.
"Randall was a ceiling-breaker when it was not very popular to have a Black quarterback," Staley said. "In Philadelphia, I don't really think they care. They just want to win. We want winners, and Randall Cunningham did that for us, and did it in such an exciting fashion. I think because of that, Jalen (Hurts) can see what he can be."
Staley is close with Hurts, and she texted the 24-year-old star just two words after he led the Eagles to a 31-7 win over the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game: "One more." Hurts replied, "Let's go."
"He's taken us all the way to a Super Bowl win," Staley said, unconcerned about jinxing the outcome. "We're going to win. I believe it's our time, and I believe that it's divine intervention. It is divinely ordered that that young man wins."
