Desperately needing a win on Saturday, Texas turned to its Ace.

Ace Whitehead pitched a complete game and the Texas offense woke up in a 10-2 win over Baylor at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. That result evened the weekend series between UT and Baylor, which earned a 4-3 win in Friday's opener.

One weekend after he had a strong showing out of the Texas bullpen, Whitehead made his first-ever weekend start for the Longhorns. The junior left-hander from Lampasas allowed six hits and one walk. He struck out five batters on 119 pitches.

Offensively, Texas was fueled by four home runs. Jared Thomas hammered two of those homers, and the UT first baseman finished with four RBIs. Will Gasparino and Rylan Galvan also hit baseballs that left the ballpark.

Texas (14-9, 3-2) and Baylor (8-14, 3-5) will close out their weekend series at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Texas sophomore Max Grubbs (2-0, 2.61) and Baylor freshman Mason Green (1-1, 3.60) are the announced starting pitchers.
