Where UNC basketball stands in Bracketology going into Virginia game

This Saturday will provide North Carolina with a chance to earn another quad 1 win and improve their NCAA Tournament resume. We already know that the committee has the Tar Heels as the top No. 2 seed in the initial rankings of the top 16 but they can still potentially climb into a No. 1 seed.

As North Carolina gets set for Saturday’s showdown with Virginia, Joe Lunardi has released his latest Bracketology. Lunardi updates it daily now going into Selection Sunday which is under a month away.

And like the selection committee, he has UNC as a No. 2 seed in the updated mock bracket. But he only has them as team No. 6 and the second No. 2 seed:

That’s where UNC has pretty much been the past two weeks for Lunardi as losses to Syracuse and Clemson have really put a dent into their chances for a No. 1 seed.

The good news is that there are five games left, with three of them being at home. Plus the ACC Tournament as well to improve the resume.

But the big picture is on the NCAA Tournament as the Tar Heels are pushing forward for another deep run.
