Where’s Texas in latest College Football Playoff bracket? Full playoff picture
As expected, the Texas Longhorns are ranked No. 5 in the first College Football Playoff rankings of the season. The Horns sit behind Oregon, Ohio State, Georgia and Miami in the list.
Penn State, Tennessee, Indiana, BYU, Notre Dame, Alabama and Boise State round out the Top 12.
When applied to the bracket, Oregon, Georgia, Miami and BYU would get first round byes as conference leaders. That drops Ohio State to the 5th seed and Texas to the 6th.
The Longhorns have four more regular season games left in the season. Home games against Florida and Kentucky and road games against rivals Arkansas and Texas A&M.
If Quinn Ewers can lead Texas to wins in those four games, the Horns should be in the SEC title game and play for the conference championship and a first round bye.
If Texas loses one of those remaining four games, Texas will possibly drop out of the Top 12 and out of the playoff.
