Where South Carolina baseball stands in latest NCAA Tournament field projections

COLUMBIA — After getting swept by Georgia, it appears South Carolina baseball lost its chance to host an NCAA Tournament regional.

With one series left for the Gamecocks (33-18, 13-14 SEC) against No. 1 Tennessee, latest projections no longer show the Gamecocks hosting a regional.

Coming into the series at home last weekend, the Gamecocks were ranked No. 14 against the No. 12 Bulldogs. The Gamecocks dropped to No. 23 and their seeding in both Baseball America and D1 Baseball's NCAA Tournament projections also fell significantly.

Here's a look at where the Gamecocks sit in the postseason projections:

Baseball America's projection for South Carolina baseball

Baseball America had the Gamecocks as the No. 12 overall seed two weeks in a row but now South Carolina is projected as the No. 3 seed with UC Santa Barbara as the host. Baseball America has Arizona as the No. 2 seed and Fresno State as the No. 4 seed in the regional.

The Gamecocks are 0-2 against Arizona and have not played the Wildcats since 2012.

D1 Baseball's projection for South Carolina baseball

D1Baseball's prediction of South Carolina changed from No. 10 to No. 16 last week. Now, they are projected as the No. 2 seed in the Clemson region. D1 Baseball has College of Charleston as the No. 3 seed and Wright State as the No. 4 seed.

GEORGIA BREAKDOWN: Why South Carolina baseball getting swept by Georgia may cost Gamecocks as NCAA regional host

The Gamecocks lost in a two-game series to No. 7 Clemson (37-13, 17-10 ACC) at home in March. The Gamecocks haven't played College of Charleston since 2018 but lead the all-time series 50-9.
