Where does two-time national champion Texas volleyball rank in preseason SEC poll?
Texas volleyball enters its new conference the same way it left the Big 12: at No. 1.
The Longhorns, who have won the past two national titles, were voted atop the SEC preseason poll by the conference’s coaches, the SEC announced Wednesday. Texas received all but one first-place vote while tallying 196 points. Florida, second with 174 points, received the other first-place vote.

Texas won seven consecutive Big 12 titles before joining the SEC on July 1. Since 2011, Texas has gone 199-11 in conference play.
The Longhorns landed four players on the SEC’s preseason team, the most in the league: outside hitter Madisen Skinner, libero Emma Halter, setter Ella Swindle and outside hitter Reagan Rutherford, who transferred to Texas in the offseason from Kentucky.
Skinner, a former two-time All-SEC selection player at Kentucky, was the 2023 Big 12 player of the year and earned the NCAA Final Four’s most outstanding player award. Rutherford, who also earned two All-SEC selections at Kentucky, was a third-team AVCA All-American. Halter capped a strong sophomore season by earning a spot on the Final Four’s all-tournament team, and Swindle became only the third true freshman setter to lead a team to a national championship while also being named to the Final Four’s all-tournament squad.
