WCWS schedule update: Monday's extended weather delay pushes back "if necessary" games to Tuesday

For the second straight day, Mother Nature got involved with the Women's College World Series — and not in a good way.

On a day with the possibility of four games being played to set the championship series, the NCAA was forced to push back Monday's slate of games by three hours due to rain and lighting moving through the Oklahoma City area in the morning.

Due to the extended weather delay, the WCWS schedule has been adjusted slightly, mainly impacting the "if necessary" games should No. 4 Florida and No. 8 Stanford beat No. 2 Oklahoma and No. 1 Texas respectively in Games 11 and Game 13 Monday.

From the NCAA: "Due to the extended weather delay today, there has been an adjustment to the Women's College World Series schedule. In the event Game 12 is necessary, that game will be played tomorrow, to make sure that we're able to get Game 13 in today, which remains scheduled for 6 p.m. CT. In the event game 12 is played tomorrow, Game 14 would also be played tomorrow, if necessary. If Game 12 is not necessary, then we will continue to try to play Game 13 and if necessary, Game 14, as scheduled today."

If games have to be played Tuesday at Devon Park, it will not affect the start of the best-of-three championship series. An off day was already built into the WCWS schedule for the possibility of Monday's events, as the championship series does not start until Wednesday, June 5.
