Watch: Vincent Kompany, Manchester City players celebrate Premier League title

Pep Guardiola might have been on the golf course. But at least a few Manchester City players were parked in front of TVs on Sunday when Manchester United lost to West Brom, thereby clinching City its third Premier League title.

Not many of them were together. There was no party reminiscent of Jamie Vardy’s and Leicester’s in 2015-16. But City captain Vincent Kompany coordinated the celebrations remotely.

City had a camera at Kompany’s family gathering, and put up a live Periscope broadcast in stoppage time of West Brom’s 1-0 victory:

The video shows Kompany cheering and hugging family members at the final whistle. He then used multiple smartphones to connect City teammates via video calls. He called up John Stones, Fabian Delph, Kevin De Bruyne, Kyle Walker and others to bring them together via technology.

Other Man City players reacted on social media – and clearly had videos and graphics put together by the club’s digital team at the ready:

Most importantly, Twitter hero Benjamin Mendy – who’s missed most of the season after tearing his ACL, but who has kept up his entertaining social media persona – was on his game:

And maybe City players did have a Sunday night party planned after all …

Some City players did then gather to have a few drinks, sing a few songs, and celebrate the title together. Kompany’s address to them was captured on video:
