Watch: USWNT star had a great reaction to finding out her husband reached the Super Bowl
Julie Ertz scored during the U.S. women’s national team’s 5-1 victory against Denmark on Sunday night in San Diego.
Twenty-seven hundred miles east, another decisive victory might have brought her even more joy.
Ertz (née Johnston), who married Eagles tight end Zach Ertz last March, found out after the match her husband’s team reached Super Bowl LII with a 38-7 win in the NFC championship game against the Minnesota Vikings.
Needless to say, she was thrilled:

The best moment came at the 13-second mark, when her eyes lit up as teammates Crystal Dunn and Megan Rapinoe came over to congratulate her.
Ertz played college soccer at Santa Clara University, a stone’s throw from Stanford, where Zach played his college football. The two were engaged in 2016 at the Cardinal’s baseball stadium.
Ertz gave further thoughts in ESPN’s postgame broadcast:

A reporter covering the Eagles’ win then showed Zach the video in the locker room after the game. And he got emotional watching Julie get emotional:
