Watch: Shohei Ohtani hits home run in Dodgers spring training debut

Shohei Ohtani began hi Los Angeles Dodgers career with a bang, clubbing a two-run homer in his spring training debut against the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday.

After striking out in the first and grounding into a double play in the third, Ohtani went the opposite way against right-hander Dominic Leone in the bottom of the fifth for his first official home run in a Dodgers uniform.

The Dodgers pinch-hit for Ohtani in the bottom of the seventh inning, and the slugger finished the game 1-for-3.

Ohtani signed a 10-year, $700 million contract with Los Angeles this winter, the biggest contract ever issued in North American pro sports. A two-way star, Ohtani won't be pitching in 2024 as he recovers from elbow surgery.

The 29-year-old won the AL MVP in 2021 and 2023 as a member of the Los Angeles Angels.
