WATCH: RJ Davis talks to ACC Network after winning Player of the Year

It’s been a senior year to remember for UNC star RJ Davis, being named Atlantic Coast Conference player of the year.

A lot comes with the honor for Davis, including his jersey hanging high in the rafters of the Dean Smith Center. Through the ups and downs, one thing remained the same for Davis, and that is his approach to the game.

When Davis didn’t make any preseason ACC teams, his approach wasn’t to complain but to wait and see because “awards… are won at the end of the year”. Well, now that the honors are pouring in after Davis dominated the regular season, resulting in his name echoing through the Dean Smith Center, Davis is finally speaking about his remarkable year.

Davis appeared on the ACC network for an in-depth interview, and here’s how it went.

Davis led the ACC in PPG (21.1), three points behind NCAA leading scorer Zach Edey (24.2). Davis’s fast pace, step back, and floater have been a nightmare for opposing teams, leading to career-defying moments.

One was when Davis finished with a career-high 42 points against the Miami Hurricanes, breaking Tyler Hansbrough’s record for most points scored in the Dean Smith Center. Davis is in the race for a boatload of different awards, the ACC POY is just the first of many.
