Watch the moment Auburn basketball put senior walk-on Carter Sobera on scholarship

AUBURN — Auburn basketball now has 13 players on scholarship.

Following the Tigers' 93-78 win over LSU in Neville Arena on Saturday, coach Bruce Pearl announced that senior Carter Sobera would no longer be a walk-on. Sobera, who has made 15 appearances in his career, recorded a rebound in a game against Alabama State on Nov. 21.

"We had a wonderful, wonderful announcement in our locker room tonight," Pearl said postgame. "Carter Sobera earned a scholarship. ... The fact that I also can have a scout team made up of Jalen Harper, Blake (Muschalek), Carter, P (Presley Patterson), Hasty Cakes (Haston Alexander). AD (Addarin Scott) is on scholarship, and he's part of it as a 5-man. Every now and then, Lior (Berman) goes down there and helps them.

"So, getting ready for LSU, I don't have to go best on best. I think that really helps us lock into our scouts and execute. Ira Bowman, Coach (Mike) Burgomaster had the scout tonight. I thought they both did an outstanding job."

Here's the moment for Sobera, who was promptly drenched with water after Pearl made the announcement:
