Warriors to avoid LeBron James in matchup against the Lakers

The Golden State Warriors All-Star break is officially over. They will face the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday (Feb. 22.) However, in a boost to their chances, Golden State won’t be tasked with guarding LeBron James, as he sits out the contest to continue managing a left ankle injury.

LeBron has found himself in the media spotlight over the past week, as rumors surfaced detailing how Golden State attempted to bring him to the Bay Area ahead of the February 8 trade deadline. Of course, the attempt was unsuccessful. Nevertheless, his absence from the Lakers rotation will be a boost for Steve Kerr‘s team.

After all, the Warriors are aiming to claw their way into the postseason and are likely aiming to avoid a potentially treacherous play-in tournament.

Golden State will also be without a core member of their rotation. Chris Paul continues to work his way back to full fitness and isn’t expected to participate in Thursday’s game. Still, Golden State’s chances of success look significantly higher without LeBron standing in front of them on the other side of the court.
