The Jets have fired their GM Joe Douglas, who's been there for some time now.

I told my wife this piece of news and she goes, I thought they already did that.

And I was like, no, that was the head coach.

And now they're firing the general manager.

So Joe Douglas fired, they have names.

Named former Browns GM and former head of the Senior Bowl, Phil Savage as interim GM.

The last time I saw Phil Savage's name, he was working with me in the Alliance of American Football.

Matt, what are your thoughts on this?

or do you have thoughts on this other than like, OK, this was to be expected.

Yeah, I mean, this was to be expected.

30 and 64 lifetime records.

That's pretty brutal for the Jets GM Joe Douglas, who was on an expiring contract anyways.

He was definitely not gonna be back.

And people are making the joke today, they fired everybody now.

It is, I mean, Nathaniel Hackett was not fired.

He was just demoted.

He is, he's still gonna finish the season employed by the New York Jets.

So, uh, they haven't, they haven't quite fired everybody yet.

So, um, I, yeah, to be expected, of course, this season went off the rails so quickly and I mean, obviously, it's just gonna be another clean slate for the Jets next year.

I think we can do, you know, kind of the postmortem on the Joe Douglas eras just to me, it, it goes back to the Makai Beckton pick.

Like he was supposed to be a guy that, oh, he's coming from Philadelphia.

He's gonna help beef up the trenches, and, and that ends up going down as a whiff, right?

In a, in a draft where there was a lot of really good tackles to come out of that class.

So that ends up, I think, kind of being.

Just emblematic of what this entire, uh, entire tenure was.

They're obviously he drafted some good players, but a lot of issues along the way, mostly at quarterback, you know, Zach Wilson obviously at the 2nd overall pick.

And then you try to paper over that with the Rodgers experience, you sell your soul to Rodgers and look, when you sell your soul, you gamble with a lot and, and he's ultimately lost that.
