JASON FITZ: Jason Fitz at the Yahoo Sportsbook inside the Venetian Resort Las Vegas. All week we've heard conversation about the dynasty of the Chiefs and the greatness of Patrick Mahomes. But part of that conversation has to be what makes Andy Reid so great? That's something that our own Charles McDonald talked to Chiefs players at the team hotel about.
CHARLES MCDONALD: So I checked in with the Chiefs today at their media availability at their hotel by Lake Las Vegas, just trying to get a lay of the land on how Andy Reid has helped them get to this point. Not only as an offensive guy, as we know his background, but also as just being the head coach of the Chiefs that kind of has to have his hand in everything. We got some interesting answers.
Creed Humphrey, the Pro Bowl center for the Chiefs, he said that Andy Reid's background as an offensive line coach has helped him get prepared. Because it not only helps when your coach knows the finer points of quarterback play, but can also tell an offensive lineman where to go on any given run blocking play or pass blocking play. He said that that had a lot of value for him.
And for Drue Tranquill, he said that Andy just lets the defense do what they do best. He leaves a lot of that work to Steve Spagnuolo, the rock star defensive coordinator who has helped him get to this point. And just in general has a lot of faith in his guys to get the job done on that side of the ball so he can focus a little bit more on offense. But it's helpful to have a coach like Andy Reid, who is now in his fifth Super Bowl-- four with the Chiefs, one with the Eagles-- to have this kind of veteran leadership to help get them across the finish line and hopefully win the game on Sunday.
JASON FITZ: Charles will be with the Chiefs all week, so be sure to check back with Yahoo Sports for the latest, greatest info.
