Video: Conor McGregor, Jon Jones make weekend headlines – will they return to UFC in 2024?

The MMA world is eagerly awaiting the next fight bookings for Conor McGregor and Jon Jones, but as the 2024 calendar slogs past its midway point, there is increasing speculation as to whether they will step into the octagon this year.

McGregor (22-6 MMA, 10-4 UFC) made headlines over the weekend claiming he had spoke to UFC CEO Dana White in the aftermath of his UFC 303 injury withdrawal in June and a new date with Michael Chandler will “for sure” happen this year. However, White said on Monday that nothing is pinned down.

Jones (27-1 MMA, 21-1 UFC), meanwhile, rattled off a cryptic string of since-deleted posts on X that have raised questions about his health, followed by news on Monday he had been charged with two misdemeanors stemming from his March incident at his Albuquerque, N.M., home with a Drug Free Sport sample collector.

Given the situations revolving around two of the biggest and most noteworthy stars in UFC history, the “Spinning Back Clique” panel debated the likelihood of Jones and/or McGregor getting back to competition this year.
