UConn, South Carolina women's basketball to extend series. Gamecocks will host in 2024-25.
COLUMBIA − South Carolina women's basketball will continue its series with UConn for the 2024-25 season, Gamecocks coach Dawn Staley confirmed at her media availability Friday.
The two teams have faced each other at least once every season since 2014-15, including the 2022 NCAA National Championship Game, which South Carolina won, 64-49.
South Carolina will welcome UConn to Columbia again next season, since the Gamecocks traveled to Connecticut in the 2020-21 and 2022-23 seasons. The teams played each other on neutral courts twice in 2021-22, and UConn last played at South Carolina in the 2019-20 season.
The No. 1 Gamecocks (22-0, 10-0 SEC) play host to the No. 9 Huskies (20-4, 12-0 Big East) on Sunday (2 p.m., ESPN) in front of a sold-out crowd at Colonial Life Arena.
SUSPENDED: South Carolina women's basketball freshman Sahnya Jah suspended indefinitely
UConn holds a 9-4 advantage in the series, but South Carolina has won four of the last five games. The Huskies won each of the first eight matchups in series history, dating back to 2007.
