UConn assistant coach Chris Dailey released from hospital after collapsing before game vs. NC State

UConn women’s basketball assistant coach Chris Dailey was taken off the court in a stretcher after collapsing before the team’s game with NC State at the XL Center on Sunday.

Dailey received medical attention after appearing to vomit and falling to the floor following the national anthem, just before the game was about to start. She was taken off in a stretcher and could be seen waving to the crowd as she left the court.

UConn released a statement saying Dailey was conscious and alert before being taken to UConn Health. She was released after an examination.

The game was delayed as the two teams were given an extra ten minutes to warm up following the incident.

After the game, UConn head coach Geno Auriemma said Dailey was “awake and alert,” and said she’d be able to head home.

“First thing, CD’s good. Everything tested out pretty good. Nothing serious, nothing threatening,” Auriemma said.

The 63-year-old Dailey has been an assistant on Geno Auriemma’s staff since 1985.

UConn went on to defeat NC State, 91-69.
