Tua Tagovailoa's first comments to Miami Dolphins fans on Sunday was all about the money

MIAMI GARDENS — Tua Tagovailoa's first public comments since signing his massive contract came when he addressed the fans in attendance for Sunday's practice.

"I tell you what," the quarterback screamed, "show me the money."

With that, the undisputed Tua Tagovailoa era began for the Miami Dolphins.

The Dolphins had emerged from their indoor facility rushing toward the fans who filled the grandstands on the south side of the facility, two football fields away. They stood, cheered and chanted "Let's go Dolphins!"

It was the first time this summer the fans have been allowed to watch practice.

After several players waved their arms to encourage those fans to make as much noise as possible, emerging from the middle of the pack was Tua, fresh off signing a four-year, $212.4 million contract, of which $147.2 million is guaranteed, assuring the fortunes of this franchise going forward now rests on his shoulders.

He was greeted with chants of "Tua, Tua, Tua," before being handed a microphone.

After getting a rise out of expressing his appreciation for his new-found wealth - Tua also rubbed his thumb and fingers together high over head as he made his initial comment - Tua, wearing his No. 1 red, no-contact jersey, then asked fans to help the team get through another steamy, hot day. South Florida is under a "heat advisory" with temperatures feeling like it's 104-109 degrees.

"We just want to say on behalf of the Miami Dolphins organization, thank you guys for taking your Sunday out to come with us, we're going to need you guys to hype us up, it's hot out here and keep the chants going. Let's go!"
