Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins back at practice as Willie Snead debuts

MIAMI GARDENS — Tua Tagovailoa and his Miami Dolphins teammates returned to the practice field Thursday after a day off on Wednesday.

Making his first appearance was veteran receiver Willie Snead IV, who was signed Wednesday and assigned jersey No. 82.

Snead saw only spot duty in 11-on-11 drills and caught a short pass from Mike White.

Highlights:

  • Tyreek Hill began receiver vs. DB drills by appearing to catch a short pass from Tagovailoa against Jalen Ramsey, which drew cheers. Except the players were obscured by a tent, and the fact is, Ramsey punched the ball out of Hill's hands. Regardless, it has been noted how the offense tends to get cheers for good plays while the defensive plays are often met with "Ohhhhhhh."

  • Siran Neal undercut a pass intended for Malik Washington and intercepted.

  • Raheem Mostert began 11-on-11 drills by running untouched around end for a good gain.

  • Emmanuel Ogbah, the surprise returneee who is having a strong camp, blew up an end-around run by Jaylen Waddle.

  • Benito Jones and Zach Sieler sacked Tagovailoa, denying an apparent long pass to Hill as players continued running the play anyway.

  • Tagovailoa found Hill over the middle for about 25 yards with Kader Kohou defending.

  • Mike White and River Cracraft connected over the middle.

  • White tried to force one to Hill. Hill got a fingertip on it but White was fortunate a safety did not intercept.

  • White couldn't find Washington because Nik Needham broke up the pass.

  • Tagovailoa had timing down perfectly to hit Waddle against Ethan Bonner.

  • A late 11-on-11 drill began with Tagovailoa hitting Hill for 17 yards. Mostert ran for 6. Calais Campbell jumped offside. Tagovailoa hit Julian Hill for a 34-yard touchdown thanks to blown coverage.

  • Skylar Thompson then ran an 11-on-11 series from his 35. Jonathan Harris stopped Jeff Wilson on third-and-1. Chop Robinson then didn't buy the play-action on fourth down and sacked Thompson.

  • White's turn: Jody Fortson dropped a pass as the series went nowhere. He later caught a short score.

  • Tagovailoa's final rotation: First down, incomplete. Appeared a receiver may have run the wrong route. That was followed by a sack by Quinton Bell.

  • In red-zone drills, Tagovailoa found Waddle in the end zone against Bonner.

  • Tagovailoa lobbed one to De'Von Achane, who walked into the end zone.

  • Ezekiel Vanderburgh broke up a pass from White.

  • Jordyn Brooks batted down a pass from Tagovailoa.

  • Je'Quan Burton caught a short scoring pass from Tagovailoa.

  • Practice wound down with Tagovailoa hitting Waddle in stride for a 43-yard score with Ramsey several steps behind.

  • Jaelan Phillips, coming off an Achilles injury, was working on the side with trainers and running at what appeared to be 75% speed with no trouble.

  • Achane had the orange jersey honors.

  • Players not spotted: Anthony Walker Jr., Jonnu Smith, Erik Ezukanma, Jordan Poyer, Cam Smith, Salvon Ahmed, Grayson Murphy, Ireland Brown, Neville Gallimore.

  • This was the first practice of the summer with officials.
